Another successful Sumba Eye Program

Following the first highly successful Sumba Eye Program in August 2008, Opthalmic Surgeon Dr Mark Ellis, from Melbourne Australia returned in July 2009 to undertake another life changing mission for the people of West Sumba.
A Vision of Hope and a Passport to the Future for the children of Sumba

One of life's greatest honors is the privilege of witnessing the birth of hope in the hearts of others by giving them a Vision of Hope and a Passport to the Future. And thanks to the generosity of all those who attended the 2008 Fundraising Dinner in California recently more than US$200,000 was raised to help the children of Sumba.
Eye Surgeons and Optometrists visit Sumba

More than 70 cataract and eye operations were performed by surgeons from the Royal Australian College of Surgeons who visited Sumba in August 2008 on a two week mission. A further 470 patients were screened by a team of optometrists and received new eye glasses.

In 2005, pediatrician Dr Alison Mann visited Sumba for the first time as a volunteer with the Sumba Foundation and witnessed first hand the major health problems faced by the Sumbanese people.
