The children in this program are severely malnourished; many are so extreme that at age three they still cannot hold their heads up by themselves and are close to dying, and we know some that have. We started finding these children as we were distributing malaria nets in villages, and immediately started direct intervention with vitamins and food. It was in 2008 when we officially made this one of our key projects.

The goal of this program is not only to save lives and see infants develop and grow under healthy conditions, but to also educate the parents of the children. We teach parents about their growing children’s health needs, and we equip them with tools to provide better diets to all members of their families.

As of now, 1,753 children have benefited from our six-month Infant Nutrition Program. So far, we have provided 374,946 eggs, 49,939 boxes of powdered milk and hundreds of thousands of vitamins to bring these children back to the WHO recommended weight for their age.
