The Sumba Foundation has developed a teaching program focused on nutrition and hygiene education for students. This course is taught to children in grades 4 and 5, and is currently taught in 34 of the primary schools we support. This curriculum generally covers:
- General health information
- Healthy foods and diets
- Personal hygiene (theory and practice)
- Dental hygiene
- Illness (such as diarrhea, malaria, infections)
- Proper waste disposal
