Our Eye Care Program is dedicated to alleviating eye diseases and assisting the refraction needs for the people of Sumba. Throughout the year, our eye care nurses conduct screenings, distribute prescription glasses at our clinics, and provide follow-up care after surgeries. We have screened 12,722 patients, dispensed 11,480 pairs if eyeglasses, and performed 1,186 eye surgeries. And annual eye surgeries are a collaborative effort by the Sumba Foundation, the Australian/Asian College of Surgeons, and the University of Hasanuddin in Makassar, Indonesia.
