School lunches provide essential nutrition for growing children, doing so has proven to increase their attention span and their learning abilities.
This is an ongoing program in which we are feeding on average 2,000 children at a time.
The goal is to change their traditional nutrition-poor diets and teach them about better foods and healthy diets. This is taught by our English Language teachers as part of the English curriculum in class.
Ever since the program’s launch, we are proud to have supported 23,117 children with school lunches and distributed a total of 1,832,292 meals.
Providing school lunches is crucial, because it:
- Provides a nutritious meal to growing children
- Motivates the students to stay in school longer and with better attendance
- Increases their ability to learn and their attention span
- Vastly improves their overall health and well-being
- Introduces knowledge of new foods and a healthy diet that they take back to their villages
- Instils the importance of a healthy diet for their entire lives
- Creates paying jobs for farmers in the community
- Over time, will create a new self-supporting market economy in the area
