Mama Bangi, a skilled weaver from a small village in Sumba, used to spend hours each day fetching water, leaving little time for her craft. The Sumba Foundation’s installation of water stations has changed her life, freeing up time for her to focus on weaving. With additional support from the Foundation’s economic empowerment project, Mama Bangi connected with fair-trade organizations to sell her textiles to a broader audience. A $100 donation can help fund water stations in more communities, giving women like Mama Della the time to build sustainable livelihoods.
