Where Your Money Goes

100 percent of all donations go directly to benefit the impoverished people of Sumba. As we expand our coverage area, we are working to expand our education program to include support for these additional schools with hundreds of students. But first we need to fund a new teacher.

This person will continue our health program in the new schools as well as in the community. In this health program, children learn topics relevant to their young age and to the life and environment of Sumba: washing their hands and brushing their teeth, the food pyramid and diet, and how to avoid common sicknesses, worms, diarrhea, malaria, etc.

Such education requires simple materials — books, handouts, props for interactive play, posters, etc. — that are shared with the children and community to make their learning experience creative and fun.

Our new employee will also need motorcycle transportation to and from these remote schools which are spread throughout a maze of bumpy dirt roads…

Projects Update

From opening our Learning Development Center to renovating a water project and helping to restore people’s vision—there is a lot to report from Sumba!
